Abstract

Safriandi. (2020) English Language Assessment in Online Class Learning during Covid-19 Pandemic at Junior High School in Lampung. Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Bandar Lampung University. Assessment is one of elements of teaching. Assessment can provide a framework for sharing educational objectives with students and for mapping their progress. Because of that, assessment is very important to be conducted by the teachers. This study uses qualitative design aiming to find out how teacher conduct assessment and investigate the challenges that might be faced by teachers in conducting assessments during online learning process. The researcher used probability sampling that is defined as a sampling technique in which the researcher chooses samples from a larger population that is truly representative of the population to determine the samples. The sample of the study consists of 5 teachers from 5 different schools in Lampung Province. The data were collected through two stages: documenting and interview. The result from the research showed that there is difference when teacher conduct an assessment between conventional and online class learning especially in assessment approach that make teachers emphasize the test in written form rather than practice. This research finds that there are some problems that come up in this distance learning class; lack of facility, internet package and students’ interest toward online class.
