Abstract

The Covid-19 outbreak has changed humans’ perceptions toward the way of life and eventually also changed our culture and civilizations for both mentally and materially. Those changes are brought up by fake news through social media and used to misled people’s perception. During the pandemic, the number of fake news is increasing significantly. Therefore, this study examined the process types of transitivity found in the fake news related to covid-19 vaccines in Indonesia. The objectives of the study are to examine the process types and to find out the prominent process has been used in fake news. This study was established a descriptive qualitative research design with documentation as its collection data method and purposive sampling technique as the way to selected its samples. There are six process types of transitivity system such as material process, relational process, verbal process, mental process, existential process, and behavioral process was found in 20 news related to covid-19 vaccine which confirmed as fake news by https://covid19.go.id/p/hoax-buster from September of 2020 until January of 2021. There are 76 processes. They are: 33 Material processes (43.4%), 19 Relational processes (25.0%), 16 Verbal processes (21,1%), 4 Mental processes (5,3%), 3 Existential processes (3.9%), and 1 Behavioral process (1.3%). After conducting the analysis on 20 covid-19 vaccine fake news which disseminated in Indonesia, it is concluded that the dominant process is Material process which occurred almost a half of the total quantity process occurrences and the least process occurred is Behavioral process which only 1 of it. It implies that fake news related to vaccine in Indonesia mostly represented experiences of human’s physical action and concern with what people did and what happened in our world and not about its people behavioral. In addition, 20 fake news used are mostly led people to believe that covid-19 vaccine is dangerous for humans and only used by government to control people. Some of them also tend to persuaded that Joko Widodo’s regime is evil.
