Abstract

The title of the research was the Effect of Using Roundtable Technique to Improve Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Text at the Tenth Grade Students of SMAN 01 Bangkunat Belimbing. The objective of this research is to find whether there is effect or not of using roundtable technique to improve students’ ability in writing descriptive texts for the tenth grade students of SMAN 01 Bangkunat Belimbing. The research was carried out at SMAN 01 Bangkunat Belimbing west Lampung, from April 2017 to Agustus 2017. The research method was experimental. The subjects of the research are the students of X A and X B. Each of them consists of 30 students. The tenth grade of X A is as an experimental class which was taught using roundtable and the tenth grade of X B is as a control class which was taught without using roundtable. The data were obtained from test. The researcher gained quantitative data for her research. They are the students’ scores of students’ writing test after having three times treatment for each class. Based on the result of data analysis, the research findings are: (1) The roundtable technique is more effective for teaching writing descriptive text than without using roundtable technique for tenth grade students of SMAN 01 Bangkunat Belimbing; (2) The students’ writing was improving after roundtable was applied. Based on these research findings, it can be concluded that roundtable is an effective technique used to improve the writing skill of the tenth grade students of SMAN 01 Bangkunat Belimbing. (3) The result is accepted based on Hypothesis.
