Abstract

This research aimed to know what factors made learners feel motivated in learning English and how motivation could give influence learners’ achievement in learning at English First (EF) Bandar Lampung. This research was qualitative method which used triangulation method – observation, questionnaire, and interview. The researcher also collected the data of the learners’ achievement report during learning English in EF. This subject of research was consisted of 50 learners in EF. The result showed that the highest percentage 64% totally agree was about ‘look for better ways in studying’ as factor of intrinsic motivation which made learners feel motivated in learning English. On the other hand, the result also showed the learners’ achievement report during learning in EF was stable from the first report until the third report. There was no much movement among report I, II and III. It meant that the role of motivation could give influence to learners’ achievement in learning English at EF Bandar Lampung. In conclusion, the role of motivation was very important in learning.
